A Travellerspoint blog

Hong Kong Halloween.

If Britain wasn't having such a bad time with covid, we would have returned there for good last summer. As it is, we now plan to return there next summer. I've long since stopped doing touristy stuff in Hong Kong but am tempted to start again, as once we leave, I doubt we will return.

I'll start this blog with a few pictures of Hong Kong at Halloween and see if I find time to add information about other parts of Hong Kong later.

Apparently it's unusual to have a full moon at Halloween, but this year we had one. It wasn't just full it was also blood red - very appropriate for a spooky time of year.

Halloween is popular in Hong Kong. This year crowds flocked out to celebrate in Lang Kwai Fong and Tsim Sha Tsui prompting fear of more covid infections to come. I did not join the party goers. I just photographed some of the decorations in my local area.

Hi, Nice to see your pictures of Halloween in Hong Kong. I did'nt realise that the moon was full , at the other side of the world at the same time as England. Here it was called a blue moon { not blue ] .It is because there had been two full moon in the month of October. Lockdown in England from tomorrow for 28 days . Stay Safe. Alec

Hello, Irene! Thanks for your presentation! We do not observe Halloween like you guys do...For us it was the Deceased Relatives Memorial Day...We cleaned up their graves and lit candles at the church...

Hi Victor. Do you do that on November 1st? They do that in many Catholic countries. I remember going to see it in Poland. It was beautiful with all the flowers.

Loved your Halloween pics. We had trick or treating here despite COVID. There were decorations much like the ones you pictured and people tried crazy ways to hand out treats using long pipes and setting out baskets. It seemed to work. We had the beautiful blue moon too. Two full moons in a month doesn't happen that often and hardly ever on Halloween. A lot of weird things have happened this year and a blue moon may be the best of it all.

I wouldn't have guessed that Hong Kong celebrated Halloween like this! I think you're right to do a bit of sightseeing during your last year there as you may wish you had done more after it's too late. I hope your plans for a move back to the UK next year go smoothly
