Once more unto the Jurassic.

Getting up close and personal with a stegosaurus.

I recently went to visit a robotic T-rex at Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui. I had intended to also go to Times Square, Causeway Bay to see the robotic stegosaurus on the same day, but I didn't have time. Today I decided that even though it's a long way to go just to spend five minutes looking at a dinosaur I would still go, because the stegosaurus will only be on display till the weekend. To make my journey to Causeway Bay a bit different and more interesting than usual, I decided to go to Tung Chung and instead of travelling underground in the MTR, take the E11 bus which goes from the Exhibition Centre near the airport to Tin Hau. I knew the journey would be beautiful because the bus crosses over several bridges and each one has a great view.

I was lucky; the bus was nearly empty when I got on and I managed to sit upstairs at the front thus getting a great view.

I got off the bus near Times Square. After walking a short distance, I could see the stegosaurus standing outside the main entrance to Times Square. Like the t-rex, this dinosaur could move and make noises. It was a great model though the t-rex had a much better background. I wandered around trying to find the best photographic angle and even went up an escalator and back down the other side to see if that was the best view.

I was glad I had come into town on the bus, as I had passed several displays in Central that had been put up for the twenty-fifth anniversary of the handover. Once I was done with the stegosaurus, I went off to see them.

I started off in Statue Square. There was a massive and very colourful anniversary display there, consisting of a lantern and models depicting various sports Hong Kong has done well in: such as windsurfing, martial arts, swimming, cycling.

It was a bright sunny day so I decided to take more photos around Central. I started with the cenotaph since I was right next to it.

I moved onto the post office which I believe is going to be demolished, though I am not sure when.

I then went off to see two of the anniversary displays I had noticed from my bus journey.

I wondered if there would be any new displays on the podium of the IFC Building so I went to have a look. It turned out there weren't, but it was such a lovely day I couldn't resist photographing the sculptures there again.

I had promised Peter I would take him swimming, so I made my way back home and we spent the rest of the day at the pool in Club Siena.

Another fun outing! The building behind the Cenotaph looks like a favorite building in San Francisco. I wonder if they have the same architect? I don't know any way to post a photo of that building here but on Google Maps it is at 181 Fremont St, San Francisco, CA 94105.

If your weather is anything like ours, swimming would be super fun right now.

I googled the building in San Francisco you are talking about. They do have a lot of similarities. The building in my picture is the Bank of China by the very famous architect, I M Pei.

We are doing a bit of swimming. The only problem is summer here involves lots of thunderstorms.

I really like that Waterbuffalo fountain and those Tai Chi Statues! :)

Hi Henna, yes the sculptures on the IFC podium are very nicely done. It's a pleasant place to sit and watch the world pass by.
